Penny's Pizza Day
Free story to read

Meet little Penny, a raccoon in a rush,
In a bright, sunny kitchen that’s usually hush.
But her tummy is rumbling, it’s growling out loud—
She’s the hungriest raccoon in any big crowd!
Today is a day for a magical treat,
The best day of all for a raccoon to eat.
She ties up her apron, all dusty with red,
“It’s Pizza Day, hooray!” little Penny then said.
First up is the dough, and she gives it a smack,
She pushes it forward and squishes it back.
With a squish and a squash and a powerful stretch,
It’s the finest round dough that a raccoon could fetch!
She tosses it high, up into the air,
It spins past the lights and right over her chair!
Wheee! watch it fly, it’s a wonderful sight!
But catch it now, Penny, and hold on tight!
Whew! caught it! Safe! Now the sauce has a turn,
With a big silver ladle she gives it a churn.
A splat and a swoosh and a circular swirl,
Look at the red sauce go into a twirl!
Now pour on the cheese! Let it flutter and flop,
Pile it up high till it reaches the top!
Like yummy yellow snow in a blizzardly blow,
A big piece lands right on her nose, don't ya know!
She wrinkles her brow, looking serious now,
To place every topping and show them all how.
A mushroom right here, a green leaf over there,
She crafts it with love and a whole lot of care.
With giant mitts on, she is ready to bake,
The ultimate pizza that a raccoon could make.
Into the oven, so warm and so bright,
She closes the door and she shuts it up tight.
But now she must wait, and the clock moves so slow,
Her tummy rumbles loud, and the minutes just go.
Tick-tock goes the clock on the kitchen wall space,
Waiting is hard in this pizza-baked place!
Then... DING! goes the timer! The waiting is done!
The greatest of moments has finally begun!
It’s bubbly and golden and perfectly hot,
The best looking pizza in this local spot!
But knock-knock-knock-knock! goes the door with a scare,
Who could be visiting? Who could be there?
She opens it wide and she sees with a thrill,
Her friends have arrived from the top of the hill!
It’s Bunny and Squirrel and big furry Bear,
With Duckling and Turtle, all wanting to share!
She cuts up the pizza with gooey, long cheese,
“A slice for you all, take as much as you please!”
One for Bear, one for Squirrel, one for Bunny so neat,
With a slice for the others to happily eat!
Chomp, chew, and yum! hear them happily greet,
This cheesy, warm masterpiece, tasty and sweet.
For Penny now knows, as she shares with her crew:
The best kind of pizza is shared with friends too!
